Second Chance Support Track

“BOI Reclaim Program” This program is tailored for youth who are justice-involved, system-impacted, or in need of structure and support. It pairs mentorship with real-life skills to help young people reclaim control of their futures.

Youth Will Learn & Gain:

  • One-on-one mentorship with consistent weekly check-ins
  • Reentry planning and goal-setting
  • Life coaching and emotional regulation
  • Practical life tools: applying for jobs, securing IDs, prepping for housing
  • School support and accountability

Empowerment & Identity Track

“BOI Expression & Identity Collective” This track creates safe, affirming spaces where youth—especially LGBTQ+ individuals— can explore who they are, express themselves creatively, and heal through community.

Youth Will Learn & Gain:

  • Self-affirmation and identity development
  • Group discussions and community-building
  • Creative outlets (art, music, writing, movement) as tools for healing
  • Peer support, confidence, and emotional awareness
  • Exposure to creative paths and careers

“BOI Expression & Identity Collective” Advanced Tier: “BOI Rising Leaders (Deputy Program)” Focused on building young leaders, this program teaches youth how to use their voice, develop leadership skills, and step into roles of influence within their communities—and within Brakin Out itself.

Youth Will Learn & Gain:

  • Public speaking and storytelling
  • Teamwork and project leadership
  • Civic education, social justice awareness, and policy insight
  • Opportunities to co-lead events or speak on behalf of Brakin Out
  • Pathway to the Deputy Program with hands-on nonprofit leadership experience

“BOI Future Builders Program” Designed to expose youth to career paths, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, this program builds real-world readiness and sparks future success.

Youth Will Learn & Gain:

  • Job readiness: resume building, interview prep, professional etiquette
  • Financial literacy: budgeting, saving, credit building
  • Entrepreneurship: branding, pitching, business planning
  • Guest speakers, business tours, and mentorship from professionals
  • Opportunities to intern, shadow, or launch passion projects
